It's 12:29 am as I'm writing this and it's a twofer so I'm just going to break into these subject's!
First the filler, A quick stumbleupon site that I ran across that I'd like to share as well as remind you/me about is Free Gmail Stickers from google! It's a first come first server offer and all you have to do is send a self addressed stamped envlope (one stamp will do, they're just light stickers after all) to:
Send me some Gmail stickers already

And now for the hook, Pano Logic is making a virtualized desktop pc, that's VERY small form factor. Is it the next step, some would say so, other's like Dvorak (dot org slash blog... *snicker*) would say that's a crock of shit, as what are you going to do when the said hosting company goes away!
I have an argument for that, and it's quite simple, which I usually choose first, Host your own! CONCEPT! With internet speeds constantly increasing, sure, tooo slowly here in the USA but still increasing non the less, and everyone becoming more and more tech savvy, is it really too much to say that soon every house will have a network room, which contains a virtualized server workhorse with alot of very small formfactor's like the Pano VDS 2.5. It looks like they are doing a very good job at getting a better feel for video over the network, but ultimatly I'd like to have something the size of say, a gumstix pc or something that was just built into an electrical outlet that I just plugged in my keyboard, screen, or say, a usb or bluetooth to my netbook?! These day's I don't think are too far off, and remember you heard it here first!
I'd actually like to go into these topic's further but I've got some sleep I need to get before the long drive again tomarrow, so to tide you over, check out WGN-TV Chicago Weekend Anchors Bob Jordan and Jackie Bange and how they make use of a commercial break! Pretty Great Teamwork!
So I'm hopeing to crowdsource this question, even though I dont have much in the way of reader's yet. Even still it'll be an open and ongoing
question as new one's come and go to the scene as well.
On the window's side, I'm torn, as for in the "Cloud" I have my preferences so let's just quickly go over our choices.
In my opnion there are mabye 4 that I'll mention and let you hash out which you deem "Best".
Enter in your preferences in the comment's section.
Like I said in the cloud I like my Tiny Tiny RSS Reader which is a PHP and Ajax powered rss reader that run's
in your browser. It's also got a mobile side to it as well, which is really what sells it to me. That and the coder's just a cool guy.
So let me know what your favorite reader is so that I can get this laptop loaded up with the finest software around! I'm making a list!
So as I'm sure you've noticed, I've ditched wordpress again. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE Wordpress! It's by far the easiest and most powerful blogging software on the market. And better yet FREE!
So why did I switch? Well for starter's the site is as you know being hosted on an old dell Latitude laptop with a 1.4 ghz processor, 512 mb of ram and 20 gig's of space here on my home connection with only a limited amount of bandwith. (I know! Why bother right?!) Fortunatly the space is the least of my worries as this is all text based so far and really, this is hardware that really should be able to handle a pretty good load being it's a very minamal layout, mostly html, and has no calls to any database's. Simply plain text files. Neat!
Another deciding factor is now being that I can SSH in to my site from my phone using pocketPuTTy and just create a new text file, edit it with nano (or vim for you old folk), and have a new blog post up, without any other login's, all through an ssl encrypted tunnel, Ok sure, sign me up! Really this was the main draw to using the HLScript instead of wordpress, but the more I've played with it, the more I like it. Simple config file to get it looking mostly like what you want, and the ease of creating whatever else for it is a simple php file away!
Take my site as an example, in it's current layout the only page's I've thrown up together is head.php to throw in my CSS, top.php for the site's title, and footer.php for the obvious footer at the bottom of the page.(The image at the bottom is called a QR Code for those looking them up in google)
I will of course be adding some link's on one of the side menu's for the rss feed, my wishlist, other pages etc. I just won't have the time for a few day's as I need to spend some time with the woman I love. She need's me right now and I want to be there for her.
