My new favorite mobile browser. Iris.

Iris, it’s a full screen, browser based on the very quickly growing Web-kit browser framework, and released by Torch Mobile.  It’s fast, sleek, and touch sensitive. (how I like my woman too ;) )

It’s got some fancy features such as being a full screen worth, and allowing you to zoom into what your interested in meaning you don’t loose any of the page like you do with most mobile browsers, and being touch sensitive, you can scroll around with your fingertip!

Clicking a link also generates a pleasing although a little bit time consuming animation of the web page “ripple” with your touch.

It also supports multiple tabs! I’ve been trying to find a decent web browser that does this for some time now, so far  the winner for me has been “Web Viewer” but Iris has this one outshined by a LONG shot!

Yes I’ll also say with some confidence that this also blows Opera mini out of the water!

features such as an actual mouse cursor, for those apps, that just need it, an over-view window to preview the open tab’s you have, buit in such as an image capture feature will save the images for you easily, and speaking of captures … here it is :)

Other then that, it’s also got a better layout for css sites as it’s fully css and html compliant.

Enough Smoke and chat, about this bad ass browser, if you like google chrome for speed, and want it in a mobile tab supported browser, Get this app!

Update on the 14th

So today Ive started cleaning up my phone. Im now no longer using palringo but have switched to 2 other apps.
One works great the other for full control.

Nimbuzz is the great service that also supports SKYPE connections! (givin your in a wifi connection) and the other is imov messenger basic. Its ugly, but allows me to do all of my own network transports on my own XMPP network instead of the others hosts (such as palringo and nimbuzz) So ugly or not its really the one Ill be using the most. One other issue with it is it seems that it used to use the top section for ads or the like, but now it only displays a page not found error. Personally Ill take that over ads anyways!

Ive also done a soft reboot after uninstalling palringo but its still looking for it on startup and displaying an error. If you know how to fix this, please post in the comments. Even if you have to get ugly and go through the registry.

Still missing that big keyboard though!

Day 8

Posted by mobile phone:

Alright so it’s day 8 and I’ve only booted my laptop twice. Once yesterday to use skype as I had left my phone in my work truck (very long day at work. my mind was elsewhere) which made for a very long night, and once to update my zune.

I’ve been a little more active, although I do kind of miss going outside as often as I used to being every smoke break was outdoors.

Video Games have taken up more of my time the they used to, but Ive also been listening to alot more audio books then before and really enjoying Anathem by Neal Stephenson (you gotta make it past the 2 hour mark and it is SO much better!)

Im starting to really get quite fast at this small keyboard, but at the same time Im also missing a full keyboard as its really making these posts smaller, but then again Im sure some of you are also glad about that.

So in my previous post on the apps that I used on my phone I figured today I’d post the plugins that allow me to do everything from my phone on wordpress as well.

First off is my favorite. And if your viewing on your mobile phone, your seeing this page brought to you by WordpressMobile it’s by far the easiest way to make your blog mobile friendly, and with as little effort as you could possibly have! It’s the plug-in that makes the page look like this:

Then there’s the MOST IMPORTANT plug-in WPhone which is the mobile admin plug-in. It’s got all the features you could need for moderating your blog via your mobile phone and being I dont (and never will) own an i-phone this plug-in is hands down the best option for me. it looks something like this:

Very handy, and very easy to manage. I LOVE it! I’ve been using them both pretty heavy over the last month and have to say I’ve yet to find a snag or flaw. Other then ease of changing the colors in either of them they are both very worthwhile and I will continue to support them both! Mobile lovers embrace these apps!

True-Tip comes at just the right time!

So just the other day I purchased a starter package from the guys folks at truetip.com and after the decision to go the whole month on just my phone for access, it just showed up today.

I got two finger tip styli (whats the plural for stylus?) and two for the end of my pen’s.

My first opnion on them is mixed.

The pen caps are Wonderful!!! The tips are just soft enough that you feel the taps but not so hard as to scratch a screen protector.

Now being I’ve come from using a Nintendo DS stylus as it is much larger then the one on my phone I have to say I like using one the thickness of a pen, my hands are kinda on the larger side.

However even as large as my hands are’ the finger tip ones are still too large!

Truetip fingertip FAIL

Both too long in where the ring sits (right on my knuckle joint) and the ring and curved tips are too loose. I have had a little luck in squeezing the ring and holding it as it is very pliable plastic, but at the same time that is another weakness as it seems to try and flex itself away and off of my finger.

So pen caps - GREAT!
Finger tips - PASS!
